Since the first retained brief
A small room that takes the unfashionable part of innovation seriously.
WebAnchor Base began as a private clinic for executives who were exhausted by imported playbooks. Taiwan’s industrial density — suppliers next to brands, hospitals next to chip tools — means ideas do not fail for lack of cleverness. They fail when nobody can name the owner of the next gate.
We still keep the practice small. Consultants teach. Teachers still take field work. The office on Shan Zhong Street is used for long tables, not for a lobby that performs ambition.
Mission
Make fewer promises, keep the ones that touch operations.
Our mission is to restore craft to innovation consulting: written decision rights, visible kill lists, and teaching that can be used on a live portfolio the following week. We are not a laboratory of novelty. We are a studio for people who already have more novelty than their systems can digest.
Pedagogy
You learn by reconstructing a real week
Every course asks participants to bring a live artifact: a stage-gate pack, a failed pilot post-mortem, a staffing plan that never held. Faculty do not lecture over generic slides. They annotate the artifact in public, then send the cohort away to revise it with their own colleagues.
We teach writing as a consulting skill. A one-page kill criterion is more valuable than a forty-page opportunity scan if the scan cannot be staffed. Participants practice reading hostility in a meeting — the polite silence that means a plant manager has already decided.
Community is not a Slack badge. Alumni are invited back as critics on later cohorts, with a duty to be specific. If you cannot point to a sentence that should change, you do not speak.
Student journey
From observer to named owner
Most people arrive as observers: they have sat through labs, incubators, and vendor days. The first month of a flagship cohort is designed to make them slightly uncomfortable owners. They leave with a named diagnostic they must run, not a certificate wall.
Later, some return for the Field Studio, where we pair an internal lead with a WebAnchor consultant on a live Taiwanese site. That is where pedagogy either holds or it does not.
